The deadline for the original work for this semester is fast approaching and as it gets closer and closer, I feel like my list of things to do continues to grow. This particular project is a culmination of all of the research and knowledge that I have gathered surrounding my topic from this whole semester. There is definitely a bit of anticipation associated with the final product I am creating and whether or not it will live up to the image I have in my head. As I have continued to develop my original work and really incorporate the research I have gathered, I find myself truly fascinated by the science and engineering behind the creation of this original work.

This week has been spent feverishly working on finishing the compilation of research so that I may proceed with gathering my materials and putting all of my ideas into one cohesive product. In the latter part of the week I was able to finalize my materials list as I settled on a cotton, nylon blend for the underside, a cotton material for the top side and various forms of batting and antimicrobial sheets that fit into the center of the saddle pad. Since I was able to make these well researched decisions regarding fabric, I was also able to go out and purchase the necessary supplies that I will need to make the physical version of the saddle pad. Getting these materials allowed me to feel a sense of accomplishment as I realized how much closer I was to my end goal than I was at the beginning. I feel like this has been a long journey and at many times I felt as though there was no way I was going to be able to finish the product on time and turn in a quality assignment. The simple act of finishing my research and buying my materials has allowed me to feel a peace of mind when it comes to my original work and I feel as though the thousands of different pieces swirling around in my head are starting to come together.

My main focus for this week is obviously my original work. I have the physical saddle pad to complete and still need to compile my research and conclusions into a cohesive report that I will turn in. Overall, I think the project deadline is completely obtainable and something that I can accomplish with a lot of hard work throughout the remainder of this week. I find myself looking forward to the culmination of my original work.
