Much of this week has been spent doing, seemingly busy work, for not only my product but also for the class. While I know that this more simple work is important to my success, it is definitely not the fun part of my project. I am still working on the program that I will use to track the different distances between pipelines, and while it is still in the works, I believe its completion is getting closer and closer. This has taken me a bit longer than I originally anticipated but I think completing this program will be incredibly beneficial to my project while also exercising the skills necessary to becoming an emerging chemical engineer.
At this point, my biggest task comes in what lies ahead in the coming weeks. In my mind things are beginning to snowball with product proposal completion, product work, mentor visits, and speeches all due in rapid succession. While I believe that all of these due dates and assignments are obtainable there is definitely some apprehension associated with completing all of this work in a timely manner. As always I worry about falling behind with my work, but believe if I stick to the schedule I have laid out for myself, I will be able to complete all of my coming assignments in a timely manner.
For this next week, I plan to focus on making significant progress on my final product moving past the program into the actual construction phase of my product. I think this will allow me to really feel some kind of accomplishment towards my product while also providing significant progress for my mentor to see and approve. As always I want to make sure that my mentor sees me working hard and willing to put in the effort necessary to complete a quality finished product. In addition, I will need to spend some time working on and rehearsing my speech that will need to be completed this week. Overall, I feel like I have a plan going forward and will be able to make significant strides towards my goals for the end of the week.
